Bedtime Routine: Hailey Andresen
Hailey Andresen of “Household Mag” has been a long-time supporter of Natti Natti, and we are so excited to introduce you to her. She kindly shares her son Owen’s bedtime routine with us, which includes making the process fun!
When do you begin your bedtime routine with the kids?
We usually start right around 7pm and we always start with bath time.
And what are his favorite bathtub toys?
My husband and I were just joking about this - for whatever reason when I put him in the tub he gets fussy, but when he does he has no problem. Once he’s in though, he’s all smiles and laughs. We recently got Burts Bee’s Baby Shampoo and Wash - love the smell and it’s perfect for Owen’s sensitive skin. Owen is still using a plastic tub in our kitchen sink so his bath toys are usually measuring cups. We also have a little rubber duck that I’ll hide around the kitchen and drop into the tub if he needs a little distraction.
Do you read to him before bed? What are some of his favorite books?
Does he have a security blanket?
He does love this giant Clifford stuffed dog that his great-grandparents sent!
What are some secrets to getting Owen to sleep?
We really try to stick to our routine - Owen thrives on this. If he’s having a difficult time we sing to him in his crib and that usually does the trick!
The best pajamas for Owen are...?
I’ve always loved Burts Bee’s PJ’s too, but some of our other favorites are from Goat Milk!
When he just can’t sleep, what do you do?
Depends on the night. If it’s just a matter of wanting to cuddle one of us will get in our bed with him. If he doesn’t seem tired, every now and then we just let him get up and play. Making sleep enjoyable is really important for us and sometimes it’s just not worth the fight.
What do you do to decompress after Owen goes to sleep?
Once Owen is down for the night Zack and I usually eat dinner if we haven’t, have a beer or glass of wine, and depending on our workload we will each write, record an episode of our podcast or catch up on our favorite show of the moment. Right now it’s The OA!
